Leadership Development

Marines are leaders. Recruits begin to learn what this means from day one. By the time they become Marines, each one will be prepared to lead with confidence.  
 
In the classroom, recruits learn the 11 Leadership Principles and 14 Leadership Traits, and they apply these lessons throughout recruit training by: 
 
• Completing challenges in teams on the obstacle 
and confidence courses  
• Accomplishing tasks with minimal supervision as they 
progress in training  
• Taking on leadership roles within the platoon
