Martial Arts
Turning the body into a weapon
The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) teaches the
hand-to-hand combat technique and discipline Marines are known for.
MCMAP teaches recruits a range of skills, including:
• Punches
• Bayonet techniques
• Upper and lower body strikes
• Basic chokes and throws
• Defensive counter moves
• Responsible use of force
By the end of recruit training, recruits must qualify for their Tan Belt. Throughout service, Marines continue with advanced MCMAP training, earning up to 7 colored belts.
