The M16 has been the service rifle of the Marine Corps since the mid-1960s, and every Marine is trained to fire it.
• Designed for three-round burst fire or single-shot semiautomatic fire
• Lightweight but deadly, with a maximum effective range of 5530m against a point target
• Updated for greater adaptability with the M16A4 model during Operation Iraqi Freedom
• M16A4 incorporates a flat-top receiver unit for mounting optical sights, lasers, night-vision devices, forward handgrips, a removable carry handle and flashlights
