Logistics Combat Element: Roles
There are many military occupational specialties within the Logistics Combat Element, and each role is essential to the overall mission. Some of these functions include:
Logistics
• Plan and execute the unit movement of personnel, supplies and equipment
• Prepare loading and embarkation plans
Supply Administration and Operations
• Provide materials required for operations
• Perform salvage, disposal, distribution, procurement and storage
Maintenance
• Keep materials ready for deployment
• Inspect, classify, test, calibrate, modify, service, adjust and repair materials
Transportation
• Move units, personnel, equipment and supplies
• Conduct motor transport, landing support, materials handling and embarkation
• Responsible for port and terminal operations
General Engineering
• Responsible for post-assault engineering tasks, including design and construction of roads and bridges
• Conduct demolition and obstacle removal
• Construct and maintain facilities
Communication
• Install, test and repair multi-channel communications equipment
• Perform maintenance on radio equipment, telephone equipment, switchboards, peripheral devices and related equipment
• Troubleshoot communications systems to ensure reliable service
Administration and Legal Services
• Perform general administrative duties
• Prepare documents
• Maintain personnel records
• Ensure proper functioning of a legal services support section
