purpose

The M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS) is a 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle that is capable of delivering precision fire to enemy targets out to 800 meters. The weapon is shorter and lighter than traditional sniper rifles, which enhances the mobility of Marine scout snipers and allows for multiple follow-up shots.

Marine Scout Snipers use the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS) as one of many weapons in their arsenal. Marines who become Scout Snipers must belong to one of these primary Military Occupational Specialties (MOS):

  • Mortarman
  • Assaultman
  • Anti-tank Missileman
  • Infantry Unit Leader

Weapons of the Scout-Snipers

Marine Scout Snipers use many weapons in their arsenal. Marines who become Scout Snipers must belong to one of these Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs): Rifleman, Reconnaissance Man, Machine Gunner, Mortarman, Assaultman, Anti-tank Missileman or Infantry Unit Leader.
