The Marine Corps' success depends upon teamwork. Therefore, teamwork will be an essential part of your training here at Parris Island. The words "I," "me" or "my" will no longer be a part of your vocabulary. You will use words such as "this recruit," "that recruit," "these recruits." Do you understand?

Passing through these hatches symbolizes your transformation from a civilian to a United States Marine. You will pass through these hatches one time and one time only. Do you understand?

Here's what you're gonna do, you're gonna turn left right here at this hatch. You understand?

As soon as you make that left, you've got to reach in one of these boxes. and you're gonna grab a bag. You understand?

As you follow me, you open that bag up wide and you're just gonna walk through a line and there's going to be gear issued to you.Do you understand that?

Once you've dumped it out on that top bed, make sure you reach up in that bag and make sure it's empty. Do you understand that?
