Growing up the daughter of an African American father and Native American mother, Captain Ashley McMillan faced personal identity barriers that weighed heavily on her confidence. Her struggle to fit in was constant, but her determination to overcome every challenge she faced fueled her fighting spirit—ultimately leading her on the path of the Marine Corps. As a Naval Academy graduate and leader of Marines, Captain Ashley McMillan has the fight in her to win for us all.
“Being selfless, giving back to our country and wanting to fight for something greater than ourselves really ties into the beliefs of the Marine Corps and the Navajo culture.”
— Captain Ashley McMillan
