AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MARINES

Aircraft Maintenance Marines ensure the helicopters, tilt-rotor and fixed-wing aircraft of the Aviation Combat Element (ACE) are ready for the fight at a moment’s notice.

Marines assigned to maintenance roles in the aviation occupational field (60XX) complete specialized training in their designated aircraft after they complete enlisted recruit training or training to become company grade officers. Once complete, they are assigned to the operating forces for more on-the-job training with senior Marines. Training varies depending on the Marine's designated aircraft. There are additional MOS within this occupational field that require advanced training available to Marines once they achieve the rank of private first class or higher.
